I found this GREAT trashcan at worlds-away.com but I thought that $145 for a trashcan was a little...excessive. But my version looks just as good and I saved myself $143, since I already owned the trashcan!
I also wanted new wall-hangings/art on my walls because before I had posters of Blink 182 and dream-catchers (ew.) I looked around the internet for inspiration but I kind of just went with my instinct on the art thing. I made two sand dollars out of a map and framed them in a shadow box (I used the Chesapeake Bay part of the map, because that's where we vacation):
I also used scrapbooking paper to create an American flaq-esque pattern for two lighthouses, I just used X-ACTO knives to cut out the outlines and I placed them on two different canvases:
I placed them in between my closet and door with a monogrammed tote placed on the floor (as my laundry basket):
I saw cutouts of butterflies (3-D) and it made me start to think of other things I could put on the wall that went along with my beach (kind of) theme, I chose seagulls and put them above my bed. Although they didn't turn out 3-D or anything they still look pretty good. I just used cardboard because I figured wood would be ridiculously hard to make:
I also made all of my pillows (except for the corgi stuffed animal!):
Here are just some random pictures from the room, I wish I had before pictures but I forgot. The pictures make the room look kind of bad... it looks better in person, I promise:
(getting a new ottoman, I just put one my parents weren't using so I could actually sit there while I look for one)I love the three shells I decided to hang, they are all from Chincoteague Island or the Outer Banks and they just look so good on the wall :)
I got this tray from the DOLLAR STORE and it is completely sturdy and feels as heavy as real silver, crazy!
Little Chicken Nugget enjoying the chair that I got antiquing, it only cost $50!!
Well, like I said, it looks better in person but I'm really happy with the way it turned out!
